Mérieux NutriSciences strengthens its footprint in Brazil with the acquisition of Zínia

Chicago, IL, February 4th, 2026 – Mérieux NutriSciences, a world leader in food safety, quality, and sustainability has acquired Zínia Ensaios Laboratoriais, a food testing laboratory based in southern Brazil. This strategic move further strengthens the company’s presence in the country and enhances its ability to serve food industry clients with greater proximity, agility and operational efficiency.

Zínia employs 25 people and operates a food testing laboratory in Joinville, with logistics and sales activities based in Florianópolis (Santa Catarina). The laboratory complies with ANVISA IN 161 issued by the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency.

The acquisition builds on Mérieux NutriSciences’ existing operations in southern Brazil, including Maringá (Paraná), improving geographic coverage and enabling faster turnaround times through optimized sample logistics and closer proximity to key food production hubs.

The transaction is fully aligned with Mérieux NutriSciences’ long-term growth strategy in Brazil. Since the acquisition of Bioagri in 2011, the company has continuously expanded its footprint and today operates 18 laboratories nationwide, employing more than 1,000 people and serving customers from north to south of the country.
