CosmeticLAB for the Skin Care – in vitro and in vivo testing

How do we assess the cosmetic efficacy?

Efficacy tests for Skin Care products.

Cosmetic efficacy tests support and study the real efficacy that packaging or the related advertising messages of each cosmetic product boast. Moisturizing; anti-wrinkle, nourishing, anti-pollution… these claims need to be tested in the labs to be declared in the packaging.

How assess the real product efficacy?

Thanks to the experience of our qualified technicians and experts, Mérieux NutriSciences laboratories apply an integrated multi-instrumental approach that exploits the potential of several techniques to provide a sound evidential support. The studies supporting the claim can be carried out by applying:

  • In vitro efficacy tests to describe the cosmetic’s mechanism of action. An approach that allows the simultaneous testing of more formulations and the preliminary evaluation of the efficacy before or in combination with in vivo studies (pre-clinical test methods).
  • In vivo efficacy instrumental evaluations (image analyzer and bio-engineering technologies). Visual evidence with actual and quantifiable data. All clinical tests are carried out by skilled and qualified specialists, with many years of experience: tests are performed according to international standards and abiding by ethical principles listed in the Declaration of Helsinki.
  • Sensory analysis and consumer research to prove end-user satisfaction (link alla pagina). One of the fundamental ingredients to make a product successful is customer’s satisfaction; however, how can their needs be anticipated? Sensory analysis and market research are a sound support in this field.

Together with images that prove efficacy tests, such data are useful to be reused in all promotional materials, from packaging to advertising, from social media to the website.
