Mérieux NutriSciences is pleased to announce the geographical expansion of its testing capabilities in South Africa with the recent inauguration of a brand new microbiology laboratory in George, a key city in the Western Cape Province.
The new laboratory, which officially opened on the 24th October 2017, marks Mérieux NutriSciences fourth commercial testing location in South Africa and will offer a wide spectrum of ISO 17025 Accredited microbiological tests to various industries in the Southern and Eastern Cape regions.
Valmé Stewart, Managing Director of Mérieux NutriSciences in South Africa commented: “Our investment in a new microbiology laboratory has been in response to a noticed increase in client demand for local testing services since the opening of our first George satellite office back in 2011.” She added: “Over and above the microbiological services we are now able to offer the region, our laboratory presence in George, which includes a dedicated sample collection service, will mean reduced turn-around times and courier costs for our clients. This, coupled with our existing training and hygiene audit services in the region, position Mérieux NutriSciences as a one-stop-shop for industry in the Southern and Eastern Cape.”
Philippe Sans, President and CEO of Mérieux NutriSciences stated “I am especially pleased to open this state-of-the-art laboratory that will enhance our ability in the region and is an illustration of our significant investment plan in new capacities to the benefits of our customers.”
With a layout designed to maximize efficiency in sample flow, and a dedicated staff, the George laboratory is a valuable addition to Mérieux NutriSciences worldwide network, which today encompasses 7,000 employees and 100 laboratories across 21 countries.
