Descriptive analysis is objective sensory testing using trained panelists as assessors. These panelists are screened for sensory acuity and group dynamics and then trained to an industry standard method or customized, client-specific method. Once proficiency has been shown by the panel, descriptive panelists can be used to develop lexicons and rate intensities of specific attributes or discriminate between samples.

Mérieux NutriSciences’ descriptive analysis panels are at your disposal for product development support and quality assurance projects. Some examples of scaling techniques used would be descriptive analysis, degree of difference testing, tetrads and triangle tests. Mérieux NutriSciences also conducts product specific trained panels such as FDA Seafood Decomposition analysis
