De acordo com um estudo publicado em 29 de outubro de 2024, <strong>100% das amostras testadas em cinco pa\u00edses europeus continham vest\u00edgios de merc\u00fario e 57% excediam o limite de 0,3 mg\/kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Estes resultados sublinham a import\u00e2ncia de medidas espec\u00edficas de car\u00e1cter cient\u00edfico e regulamentar para melhor compreender os riscos relacionados com o merc\u00fario e proteger os consumidores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-o-que-e-a-contaminacao-por-mercurio\">O que \u00e9 a contamina\u00e7\u00e3o por merc\u00fario?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">O merc\u00fario \u00e9 um metal natural libertado no ambiente atrav\u00e9s de processos naturais e de actividades humanas. Uma vez libertado, o merc\u00fario sofre transforma\u00e7\u00f5es e ciclos complexos entre a atmosfera, os oceanos e a terra. Existe em tr\u00eas formas qu\u00edmicas principais:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Merc\u00fario elementar ou met\u00e1lico (Hg\u2070)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Merc\u00fario inorg\u00e2nico<\/strong> (compostos mercurosos (Hg\u2082\u00b2\u207a) e merc\u00faricos (Hg\u00b2\u207a) )<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Merc\u00fario org\u00e2nico<\/strong>, sendo o metilmerc\u00fario a forma mais comum na cadeia alimentar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">O metilmerc\u00fario, a forma mais t\u00f3xica, acumula-se no peixe e no marisco, apresentando s\u00e9rios riscos para a sa\u00fade, em particular para:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mulheres gr\u00e1vidas,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Crian\u00e7as, e<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mulheres em idade f\u00e9rtil.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Este composto foi classificado pela <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news-room\/fact-sheets\/detail\/mercury-and-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) <\/a>como poss\u00edvel carcinog\u00e9neo para o ser humano (Grupo 2B), especialmente no que diz respeito ao cancro do rim. Al\u00e9m disso, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news-room\/fact-sheets\/detail\/mercury-and-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">World Health Organization (WHO) <\/a>identifica o merc\u00fario como uma das dez principais amea\u00e7as qu\u00edmicas \u00e0 sa\u00fade p\u00fablica mundial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-mercurio-no-atum-ate-que-ponto-sao-os-niveis-elevados\"><strong>Merc\u00fario no atum: at\u00e9 que ponto s\u00e3o os n\u00edveis elevados?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">A acumula\u00e7\u00e3o de merc\u00fario nos peixes varia consoante a esp\u00e9cie. O atum, sendo um peixe predador, cont\u00e9m normalmente n\u00edveis mais elevados de metilmerc\u00fario devido \u00e0 bioacumula\u00e7\u00e3o. Os estudos mostram que os valores podem variar:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Atum tamanho pequeno (por exemplo, gaiado)<\/strong>: N\u00edveis mais baixos de merc\u00fario, o que o torna uma escolha mais segura.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Atum voador e atum albacora:<\/strong> Cont\u00eam frequentemente n\u00edveis mais elevados de merc\u00fario, especialmente nas variedades em conserva.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">De acordo com o <a href=\"http:\/\/data.europa.eu\/eli\/reg\/2023\/915\/oj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Regulamento (UE) 2023\/915<\/a> da UE, os n\u00edveis m\u00e1ximos permitidos de merc\u00fario s\u00e3o:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>0.3 mg\/kg <\/strong>para peixes de menor risco, como o bacalhau, o arenque e o salm\u00e3o.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1 mg\/kg <\/strong>para peixes de alto risco como o atum, o espadarte e o marlim.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>0.5 mg\/kg <\/strong>para outras esp\u00e9cies n\u00e3o inclu\u00eddas nas categorias 3.3.1.2 e 3.3.1.3 do regulamento.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-riscos-para-a-saude-decorrentes-da-presenca-de-mercurio-no-atum\"><strong>Riscos para a sa\u00fade decorrentes da presen\u00e7a de merc\u00fario no atum<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">O metilmerc\u00fario tem como alvo principal o sistema nervoso, apresentando os maiores riscos para o desenvolvimento do c\u00e9rebro dos fetos e dos beb\u00e9s.
