Estes compostos podem acumular-se em v\u00e1rias partes da planta \u2014 folhas, flores, sementes ou ra\u00edzes \u2014 e, consequentemente, contaminar produtos alimentares ou ra\u00e7\u00f5es animais. As culturas comest\u00edveis contaminadas podem transport\u00e1-las na cadeia alimentar ou os animais podem transferi-las atrav\u00e9s dos alimentos para os seres humanos, causando graves consequ\u00eancias para a sa\u00fade. Algumas toxinas vegetais podem causar doen\u00e7as cr\u00f3nicas devido \u00e0s suas propriedades genot\u00f3xicas, carcinog\u00e9nicas e teratog\u00e9nicas. Outras t\u00eam <strong>toxicidade aguda<\/strong>, causando doen\u00e7a hep\u00e1tica&nbsp;venoclusiva ou efeitos alucinog\u00e9nios. As toxinas vegetais de maior interesse alimentar incluem os alcaloides do tropano, os alcaloides da pirrolizidina, os glicoalcaloides, a calistegina, os alcaloides do \u00f3pio e os canabin\u00f3ides, mais frequentemente encontrados em <strong>cereais<\/strong>, <strong>ervas arom\u00e1ticas<\/strong>, <strong>especiarias<\/strong>, <strong>ch\u00e1<\/strong>, <strong>infus\u00f5es <\/strong>e <strong>mel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-avaliacao-do-risco-das-toxinas-vegetais\">Avalia\u00e7\u00e3o do risco das toxinas vegetais<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Os pain\u00e9is de peritos da EFSA efectuaram an\u00e1lises cient\u00edficas e estudos de exposi\u00e7\u00e3o para apoiar a decis\u00e3o da Comiss\u00e3o Europeia de fixar <strong>teores m\u00e1ximos permitidos<\/strong> de determinadas toxinas vegetais para certos alimentos. Este regulamento est\u00e1 em constante atualiza\u00e7\u00e3o, \u00e0 medida que s\u00e3o recolhidos novos dados e publicadas novas avalia\u00e7\u00f5es de risco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nos \u00faltimos anos, foram introduzidos limites espec\u00edficos para os <strong>alcaloides do tropano<\/strong>, <strong>alcaloides da pirrolizidina<\/strong>, <strong>alcaloides da cravagem (ergot)<\/strong> e <strong>alcaloides do \u00f3pio<\/strong>.
