Clostridium botulinum
The John H. Silliker Food Science Center has a global reputation in C. botulinum studies as well as toxin detection. We analyze samples for viable C. botulinum cells as well as botulinum toxins, specializing in conducting inoculated pack studies and process validation studies to establish the log reduction potential, D and Z values.
As one of a few laboratories licensed to work in this field, our team ensures high-quality research results, employing specialized equipment, customized facilities, and trained laboratory personnel experienced in dealing with this deadly pathogen and the toxin it produces. All of our systems meet the federal mandates required for select agent testing.
