Mérieux NutriSciences offers its customers the proven experience of its experts in assessing the quality and safety of metal, plastic or wooden furniture and accessories, fabrics for curtains and upholstery, carpets and fitted carpets.
With regards to safety, the laboratory evaluates the impact that furniture and consumer goods have on indoor air quality: the test on internal atmosphere emissions can detect substances (such as formaldehyde and other VOCs) which can be released by paints, varnishes, flooring materials, carpets and fitted carpets, furniture, etc. and that can thus cause health problems. Moreover, several methods have been developed and validated to detect the presence of heavy metals and the most common allergens in home accessories and upholstery fabrics. As for quality control, Mérieux NutriSciences has many tools designed for the artificial simulation of exposure to indoor light (filtered through the glass) and performs physical and mechanical tests on fabrics to assess their resistance to tensile stress, abrasion, tear etc., and color fastness to washing and rubbing.
