Directive no. 94/62/EC was focused on the repercussions that packaging waste has on the environment and implemented some measures for their prevention: this was the first step to change the approach towards these topics and that nowadays leads to look for new solutions for recyclable and compostable bags and packaging.
Compostable materials can be transformed in compost, productive soil used as fertilizer: if correctly treated, they are not a waste but a resource perfectly integrated in the cycle of nature. Compostable products at the end of their life have a reduced environmental impact and are a modern and sustainable choice.
