Mérieux Nutrisciences inaugurates its new food chemistry laboratory in Merville, France

Chicago, March 14th, 2018 – Mérieux NutriSciences is pleased to announce the inauguration of its chemistry laboratory in Merville, France reinforcing the chemistry capabilities of the group. The brand new laboratory started to operate in January 2018 and was officially inaugurated today by Alexandre Mérieux, Chairman of the Board, and Mérieux NutriSciences’ Board of Directors.

This 3,000 m² lab, created to increase the chemistry testing capacity in France, is now fully operational to test up to 5,000 samples per week. Using last generation equipment, the lab offers a large analytical coverage to better answer consumers’ growing health concerns. It includes notably a specific area dedicated to dairy products methods with specific material and skilled staff.

“Our investment in this laboratory reflects our ambition to develop our chemistry operations in France and more generally worldwide. The consumers are expecting more and more transparency about the composition of the products they eat and food players are answering this demand through more chemistry tests. We are glad to be able to meet these increasing needs”, said Philippe Sans, Mérieux NutriSciences’ President & CEO.

Located close to the microbiology lab of Mérieux NutriSciences already based in Merville, the chemistry laboratory will eventually employ more than 80 people. It is a valuable addition to Mérieux NutriSciences network in France that today encompasses six labs dedicated to microbiology, one to chemistry and two to sensorial analysis. It also brings the number of laboratories in Europe up to more than 40 strengthening the chemistry capabilities in the region.
